Magnolia School of Excellence

Magnolia School of Excellence

The Magnolia School Board challenged this project to use 75% local subcontractor participation. This goal was met including eight percent women and minority business owner participation.

During construction there were upwards of 40 rain days, which delayed some of the up-front site work. To compensate, extra crews were brought in and worked some weekends. That extra effort, combined with excellent coordination and communication with the new group of subcontractors, enabled the delivery of a quality building by the original completion date.

This was the first Louisiana charter school for CSUSA and the first charter school constructed with a gymnasium, locker room, and concession stand (occupying a full 11,000 SF of the 65,873 SF school). The locker rooms feature restroom facilities, showers, and lockers; the gymnasium has retractable bleachers, wireless scoreboards, and 6 retractable basketball goals, two of which are height adjustable for younger kids. Classes have begun and the school is a rousing success.
