Academie Da Vinci Charter School

Academie Da Vinci Charter School

Academie Da Vinci was established in 2003 with a K-5 curriculum in a 12,000 square foot converted office building in Dunedin, FL. Not long after this “A rated” charter school expanded into a portion of the neighboring building shared with a medical facility, and by 2016 was ready to expand again to offer grades 6 through 8.

Element was contracted to complete the renovation of 9,000 square feet. Element developed a detailed budget and schedule based upon schematic design sketches and assisted the Owner and architect with design development and permitting. By implementing a design/build approach to the mechanical system, the owner was able to use existing equipment at a substantial savings. Element developed a proactive relationship with the City of Dunedin’s building department to facilitate our fast track schedule.

Extensive selective demolition to the mechanical and electrical systems and removal of existing lead-lined radiology rooms, began April 15th, and the renovations were completed on July 15th with the issuance of a certificate of occupancy from the City of Dunedin. This met the owner’s completion goal, to allow the teachers to prepare the new classrooms and library for the first day of school.

Element’s proactive project management approach was instrumental in completing this challenging project on time and under budget.
