Woodmont Charter Academy

Woodmont Charter Academy

This project included a renovation of an existing 57,000 square foot, two-story, Verizon call center into a Charter School. Because of the age of the building, asbestos was a major concern with trying to renovate it. Asbestos is costly to abate so careful consideration was taken when negotiating a purchase price of this existing building.

In addition to the massive renovation, this project included major upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems, as well as significant site modification with the removal of parking lots to create a play field for the students. Mr. Smith created the budget and schedule for this project and negotiated the land purchase agreement, as well as managing the design, permitting, and subcontract agreements.

Open communication and delivery date were the goals for the project. Mr. Smith  successfully delivered the project through an integrated development, design and construction approach, coupled with a fast-track design.

Woodmont Charter School is a tuition-free K-8 public charter school, which serves students in Hillsborough County, and is a member of the Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) family of schools.
